(CEDAR FALLS, Iowa, Jan. 10)—The No. 6 McKendree University wrestling team only lost one match in their opening round dual against No. 17 Morningside College at the 2009 National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals in the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

McKendree won four matches by fall, highlighted by a pin by Brian Markway (Jefferson City, Mo./) (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) in 45-seconds at 184 pounds over Joe Lockett. Also winning by fall were No. 2 Wade Lowe (Godfrey, Ill./) (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) at 133 pounds, No. 6 Aaron Winning (Highland, Ill./) (Highland, Ill./Althoff Catholic) at 165 pounds, and Dan Moore (Rolla, Mo./) (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) at heavyweight.

No. 1 Andrew Sanchez (Shiloh, Ill./) (Shiloh, Ill./O'Fallon) defeated No. 6 Cole Wilson in a 3-1 decision at 197 pounds and unranked Ryan Henning (Tuttle, Okla./) (Tuttle, Okla./Tuttle) defeated No. 8 Drew Smith by major decision 13-5. No. 6 Ryan Jahn (Bolingbrook, Ill./) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) defeated Ben Knight in a 7-0 decision at 149 pounds. Matt Beasley (Edwardsville, Ill./) (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) defeated Blake Moore in a 3-1 decision at 157 pounds and returning All-American Josh Bryant (Tuttle, Okla./) (Tuttle, Okla./Tuttle) also defeated Weston Frahm in a 7-3 decision at 174 pounds.

The Bearcats will face No. 3 University of Great Falls at 3 p.m. Saturday in the second round of the championship bracket.
