(ST. LOUIS, Mo., Jan. 15)—The McKendree University Bearcats picked up their first American Midwest Conference win of the season, 76-41, Thursday night at Harris-Stowe State University.
Junior guard Haley Klingelhoefer (Mascoutah, Ill./Mascoutah) (Mascoutah, Ill./Mascoutah) and freshman forward Ashley Dressler (Columbia, Mo./Rockbridge) (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) both led McKendree with 14 points. Senior guard Kelsey Park (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) had 11 points and six assists, while sophomore guard Katie Fullerton (Coulterville, Ill./Coulterville) (Coulterville, Ill./Coulterville) and freshman forward Emily Woodland (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) both had 10 points, a career-high for Woodland. Sophomore guard Ashley Agee (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds for McKendree.
McKendree found a rhythm early in the contest and led 43-25 at the break. McKendree continued its steady play in the second half on its way to a 76-41 victory.
The Bearcats used its depth in the win and had nine player's with 15 minutes or more in the game. McKendree shot 48.4 percent from the field in the contest compared to 30.5 percent for the Hornets. McKendree also shot 54.5 percent from beyond the arc and 57.1 percent from the free throw line.
McKendree improved to 9-6 overall (1-2 AMC) and Harris-Stowe fell to 2-10 overall (1-2 AMC). McKendree will travel to Columbia, Mo., January 20th to face Columbia College at 5:30 p.m.
