No. 2 BEARCAT WRESTLING TEAM DEFEATS No. 16 CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY 23-12

(LEBANON, Tenn., Jan. 16)- The No. 2 McKendree University wrestling team defeated No. 16 Cumberland University (Tenn.), 23-12 Friday night in a dual match in Lebanon, Tenn.

McKendree returns to the mat Saturday morning at the Cumberland Open at 10 a.m.

After losing the opening match at 125 pounds, the Bearcats rebounded with three consecutive decision wins by freshman Kyle WIlliams (Scott Air Force Base, Ill./Mascoutah) at 133 pounds, senior Jermaine Waye (Altama, Ga./) (Brunswick, Ga./Glynn Academy) at 141 pounds and No. 8 Ryan Jahn (Bolingbrook, Ill./) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) over No. 7 Corey Bleaken, 9-7, at 149 pounds. Following a loss at 157 pounds, No. 5 Aaron Winning (Highland, Ill./) (Highland, Ill./Althoff Catholic) pinned Nick Sasfy in 2:07 at 165 pounds and wins from senior Tom Edwards (Belleville, Ill./) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) and No. 1 Andrew Sanchez (Shiloh, Ill./) (Shiloh, Ill./O'Fallon) at 184 pounds and 197 pounds completed the win for the Bearcats.
