(LEBANON, Tenn., Jan. 18)-- The McKendree University wrestling team had seven wrestler's finish in the top five at the Cumberland Open on Saturday. The event was hosted by Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn.
Junior
Ryan Guillett (Poteau, Okla./) (Poteau, Okla./Poteau) won the 125 pound title and junior
Josh Bryant (Tuttle, Okla./), ranked No. 6, won the 174 pound division. Senior
Dan Moore (Rolla, Mo./) (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) was runner-up in the heavyweight class, while junior
Ryan Henning (Tuttle, Okla./) (Tuttle, Okla./Tuttle) and freshman
Matt Beasley (Edwardsville, Ill./) (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) both finished in 3rd place at 141 pounds and 157 pounds, respectively. Freshman
Arben Balazi (Oswego, Ill./) (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East) and sophomore
Lawrence Brown (St. Louis, Mo./) (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood East) finished in fifth place at 157 pounds and 184 pounds to round out the Bearcats top five finishers.
No. 2 McKendree returns to the mat Wednesday, January 21 at 7 p.m. to host Oklahoma CIty University. The Bearcats will celebrate senior night prior to the evening's matches.
