No. 11 McKENDREE UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM BLANKS CULVER-STOCKTON 8-0

Eckelkamp had two goals and an assist in Wednesday's win
(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 14) – The No. 11 McKendree University women's soccer team held Culver-Stockton College to zero shots in an 8-0 win on Wednesday night at Leemon Field.
 
No. 11 McKendree, now 10-1-2 overall will travel to Chesterfield, Mo., on Monday to play Missouri Baptist University at 4 p.m.
 
The Bearcats scored four goals in each half to win the game. Senior midfielder Alex Adams (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) scored the first goal in the contest in the 5th minute on an assist by junior midfielder Ashley Varns (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood). Junior midfielder Sarah Eckelkamp (Arnold, Mo./Fox) (Arnold, Mo./Fox) scored her first of two goals on the night in the 11th minute on a assist by junior midfielder Theresa Kaiser (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) and senior forward Sarah Ryan (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) scored unassisted in the 21st minute to give the Bearcats a 3-0 lead. Varns took a pass from Eckelkamp at the 22 minute mark and scored to put the Bearcats up 4-0 where it remained until the end of the first half.
 
Kaiser opened up the second half with an unassisted goal, her first of the season, in the 46th minute and Eckelkamp scored her second and final goal of the game in the 77th minute on an assist from Ryan. Senior defender Kelsey Johnson (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) also scored her first goal of the season in the 78th minute unassisted and freshman midfielder Tanisha Reed (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) scored the eighth and final goal of the game in the 79th minute to give McKendree the win.
 
Junior Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) played 45 minutes in goal and improved to 10-1-2 on the season. Sophomore Cassi Lofink (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) played the entire second half in goal. The duo combined to earn a team shutout.
