(FULTON, Mo., Oct. 19) – The No. 13 McKendree University men's soccer team escaped an upset on Monday night with a 1-0 win at William Woods University.
No. 13 McKendree, now 11-1-1 overall (2-1 AMC), will host No. 25 Hannibal-LaGrange College on Friday, October 23rd at 5 p.m.
The game was neck and neck for the majority of the contest and neither team could convert any scoring opportunities until sophomore defender Aaron Streid (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) took a pass from sophomore defender Mitch Fear (Southampton. England/Tauntons) (Southampton, England) and put it past the Owl keeper in the 84th minute to give McKendree the win. Streid's goal was his fourth of the season and was also his fourth game-winning goal of the year.
Sophomore Joe Sagar (Oldham, England/Hulme) (Oldham, England) played all 90 minutes in goal and had four saves in his sixth shutout of the season.
