(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 20)—The McKendree University volleyball team rolled to a Senior Night sweep Tuesday at home against Harris-Stowe State University. The Bearcats rolled to victory in the best-of-five contest by scores of 25-5, 25-8 and 25-7.
McKendree notched its fourth consecutive victory to improve to 14-10 overall. The Bearcats also strengthened their hold on third place in the American Midwest Conference at 9-3. McKendree has won its last six AMC contests.
Junior outside hitter Tara Ryterski (Nashville, Ill./Nashville) (Nashville, Ill./Nashville) led a balanced attack for McKendree with 10 kills, while junior middle hitter Ashley Perry (Sparta, Ill./Sparta) (Sparta, Ill./Sparta) contributed six kills and three solos blocks for the Bearcats.
Prior to Tuesday's match, McKendree honored its four seniors in the program. Outside hitter Andrea Lucas (Festus, Mo./Festus) (Festus, Mo./Festus) had five kills during Tuesday's match, while libero Lauren Sarver (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) led the Bearcats with 14 digs. Defensive specialist Kristina Paisley (Waterloo, Ill./Gibault) (Waterloo, Ill./Gibault) was right behind Sarver with 13 digs. Also honored was senior student assistant coach Dani Collins (Freeburg, Ill./Freeburg) (Freeburg, Ill./Freeburg).
Sophomore setter Melissa Bayer (Collinsville, IL/Triad) (Collinsville, Ill./Triad) and junior setter Alyssa Speckhals (Hermann, Mo./Hermann) (Hermann, Mo./Hermann) each had 12 assists to pace McKendree.
Harris-Stowe slipped to 0-27 overall and 0-14 in AMC play.
McKendree will head to Davenport, Iowa, on Saturday to take part in the Saint Ambrose University Classic.
