(COLUMBIA, Mo., Oct. 6) – The No. 5 McKendree men's soccer team lost its first game of the season on Tuesday night in a 1-0 loss at No. 24 Columbia College.
No. 5 McKendree, now 9-1-1 overall (1-1 AMC), will travel to Fulton, Mo., on October 10 to face William Woods University at 3 p.m.
The Cougars outshot the Bearcats 11-6 in the first half, but neither team could find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes of play. In the 69th minute, Tim Tevlin found the back of the net on a shot to the top right corner of the goal to give Columbia a 1-0 lead on the unassisted goal. The Bearcats almost tied the game with five seconds remaining in the game, but the shot went wide and McKendree was dealt its first loss of the season.
Sophomore Joe Sagar (Oldham, England/Hulme) (Oldham, England) played 90 minutes in goal and had five saves in the loss.
