No. 13 McKENDREE UNIVERSITY MEN'S SOCCER TEAM ENDS REGULAR SEASON WITH 7-0 WIN AT WILLIAMS BAPTIST COLLEGE

(WALNUT RIDGE, Ark., Nov. 2) – The No. 13 McKendree University men's soccer team closed out their regular season slate on Monday with a 7-0 win at Williams Baptist College.
 
No. 13 McKendree, now 15-1-2 overall (6-1 AMC), will host an American Midwest Conference tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday at 1 p.m. Their opponent has not yet been determined.
 
The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead in the second minute of the game on a goal by sophomore midfielder Tom Ward (Frodhsam, England/) (Frodsham, England) with an assist from junior midfielder Sam James (Southampton. England/Tauntons) (Southampton, England). Sophomore forward Daniele Campailla (Moerfelden-Walldorf, Germany/Bertha von Suttner) (Moefelden-Walldorf, Germany) gave McKendree a 2-0 lead in the 20th minute on an assist from senior defender Sam Keomanivane (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) and junior defender Steve Axe (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada) made the score 3-0 on a goal in the 22nd minute on an assist from sophomore forward Fraser Williams (Rhondda, England/) (Rhondda, Wales). The Bearcats ended the first half with a 4-0 lead on a goal by junior forward Max Stainmez (Holland, Ontario, Canada/Denison) (Holland, Ontario, Canada) with an assist from James.
 
Freshman forward Johny Tague (Livingston, Scotland/St. Margaret's) (Livingston, Scotland) scored shortly into the second half on an assist from sophomore midfielder Pat Jones (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) and Stainmez scored his second goal of the game in the 57th minute on an assist from freshman defender Jimmy Higham (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) to make the score 6-0 McKendree. Higham scored his first collegiate goal in the 88th minute on a penalty kick to give the Bearcats the 7-0 win.
 
Sophomore Joe Sagar (Oldham, England/Hulme) (Oldham, England) played the first half in goal and had one save, while freshman Eric Fowler (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) played the second half and had two saves. The duo combined to earn the team shutout.
