(LEBANON, Ill., – Feb. 12) – The McKendree University women's basketball team never trailed Thursday night in a 79-50 win over Harris-Stowe State University.
McKendree, now 14-9 overall and 6-5 in the AMC, will host No. 16 Columbia College Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Junior guard Haley Klingelhoefer (Mascoutah, Ill./Mascoutah) (Mascoutah, Ill./Mascoutah) led all players with 15 points. Junior guard Katie Fullerton (Coulterville, Ill./Coulterville) (Coulterville, Ill./Coulterville) recorded a double-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and also had six assists. Sophomore guard Ashley Agee (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) and senior forward Emily Best (Wood River, Ill./East Alton-Wood River) (Wood River, Ill./East Alton-Wood River) also had 10 points in the win. Lanikia Lawrence and Sheri Jones both had 14 points for the Hornets and Nakaji Mitchell had 12 in the loss.
McKendree and Harris-Stowe were tied 2-2 with 18:33 left in the first half, but it was all Bearcats from there on out. McKendree led by as many as 17 in the first half and by 31 twice in the second half. The Bearcats had been shooting poorly from beyond the arc as of late, but lit up Harris-Stowe with 8-10 shooting from 3-point range. Agee and Fullerton were 3-3 and 2-2 from 3-point range on the night, respectively.
