(MARSHALL, Mo., Feb. 8)- The McKendree University wrestling team had seven top six finishes at the Missouri Valley College Open on Saturday.
Sophomore Andrew Sanchez (Shiloh, Ill./) (Shiloh, Ill./O'Fallon), ranked No. 1 in the NAIA at 197 pounds, won his weight class with a 3-1 decision over Missouri Valley' Ryan Sutton. Senior heavyweight Dan Moore (Rolla, Mo./) (Rolla, Mo./Rolla), the NAIA's No. 7 wrestler in his weight class, defeated NCAA Division II No. 1 Dustin Finn of University of Central Oklahoma in a 2-1 decision.
Other top finisher's for the Bearcats were sophomore Wade Lowe (Godfrey, Ill./) (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) with a runner-up finish at 133 pounds. Freshman Kyle Williams (Mascoutah, Ill./) (Scott Air Force Base, Ill./Mascoutah) also finished in third place at 133 pounds. McKendree also had three sixth place finisher's at the tournament in junior Ryan Guillett (Poteau, Okla./) (Poteau, Okla./Poteau) at 125 pounds, sophomore Ryan Jahn (Bolingbrook, Ill./) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) at 149 pounds, and freshman Scott Prause (Effingham, Ill./) (Effingham, Ill./Effingham) at 197 pounds.
The NAIA No. 3 Bearcats return to the mat on Tuesday, February 10 at No. 12 Missouri Baptist University at 7 p.m.
