(BELLEVILLE, Ill., Feb. 28)- The McKendree University women's tennis team won their first match of the 2009 season on Saturday in a 5-2 win over Missouri Baptist. The match was held at Kingspoint in Belleville, Ill.

The Bearcats picked up singles wins from Jenny Mennerick (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) at No. 1, Erin Thoman (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) at No. 2, Emily Cimarolli (Belleville, Ill./Althoff) at No. 3, and Lauren Szakielo (Troy, IL/Triad) at No. 5. The tandem of Mennerick and Thoman also had a win at No. 1 doubles.

McKendree will return to the courts on Saturday, March 7 at the University of Illinois at Springfield.
