(SPRINGFIELD, Ill., March 7)- The McKendree women's tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season after a 5-4 win over the University of Illinois at Springfield.

McKendree improved to 2-1 on the season and will travel to St. Louis, Mo., on March 12 to play University of Missouri at St. Louis at 4:30 p.m.

McKendree had singles wins by Jenny Mennerick (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) at No. 1, Erin Thoman (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) at No. 2, and Lauren Szakielo (Troy, IL/Triad) at No. 5. The Bearcats also had wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by the tandems of Mennerick and Thoman and Emily Cimarolli (Belleville, Ill./Althoff) and Szakielo, respectively. The Bearcats had to default at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles due to having only five players.
