(LEBANON, Ill.., March 26)– The McKendree University softball team lost both games of their home-opening double header against Lindenwood University Thursday, 4-1 and 2-0.

McKendree, now 12-9 overal, will travel to St. Louis, Mo., Saturday for a rescheduled American Midwest Conference doubleheader at Harris-Stowe State University. The game will be played at St. Louis Community College - Forest Park.

Lindenwood pitcher Rebecca Peddicord struck out 13 and held McKendree to only four hits in the contest. Trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, sophomore shortstop Ashley Agee (Moberly, Mo./Moberly HS) (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) led off with a double and advanced to third on a single by junior first baseman Liz Dains (Valley Park, Mo./Valley Park HS) (Valley Park, Mo./Valley Park). Agee scored on a dropped fly ball hit to deep left field by freshman second baseman Cassi Brown (Trenton, Ill./Wesclin HS) (Trenton, Ill./Wesclin) for McKendree's lone run of the game.

Agee was 1-2 with a run scored in game one for McKendree. Senior pitcher Amy Quirin (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West HS) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) fell to 4-4 on the season after giving up eight hits and striking out six in seven innings.

Freshman pitcher Autumn Allen (Fairview Heights, Ill./Belleville East HS) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) held Lindenwood to one hit until the top of the seventh inning when Lindenwood scored two runs to take a 2-0 lead. McKendree placed two runners on base with one out, but would leave both stranded in the loss.

Allen fell to 4-3 on the season, striking out six in seven innings pitched.
