(OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., March 6)— Junior Aaron Winning (Highland, Ill./) (Highland, Ill./Althoff Catholic) and sophomore Andrew Sanchez (Shiloh, Ill./) (Shiloh, Ill./O'Fallon) will wrestle for individual championships for McKendree University Saturday night at the NAIA Wrestling National Championships.
McKendree sits in fourth place overall with 94.5 points. Lindenwood University (Mo.) remains in first place with 147 points.
Winning will face John Murray of Lindenwood University for the 165 pound championship. Winning and Murray have faced each other twice this season, with both wrestlers winning once. Winning will take an overall record of 24-3 into the match. Sanchez, last year's runner-up at 197 pounds, will face Frank Morgan of King College (Tenn.). Sanchez enters the match with an overall record of 35-5.
In the consolation bracket, sophomore Wade Lowe (Godfrey, Ill./) (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) and freshman Kyle Williams (Mascoutah, Ill./) (Scott Air Force Base, Ill./Mascoutah) will both wrestle in the 133-pound consolation semifinals Saturday morning . Junior Josh Bryant (Tuttle, Okla./) (Tuttle, Okla./Tuttle) will wrestle Brendon DeCock of the University of Great Falls (Mont.) in the consolation semifinals at 175 pounds and senior Dan Moore (Rolla, Mo./) (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) will wrestle in the heavyweight consolation semifinals. Junior Cedric Powell (Duncan, Okla./) (Duncan, Okla./Duncan) will wrestle Travis Ewart of Missouri Valley College in the seventh place match at heavyweight.
