No. 23 McKENDREE MEN'S SOCCER TEAM DEFEATS TAYLOR 3-1

Streid scored his first collegiate goal in Saturday's win at Taylor

(UPLAND, Ind., August 29) – The No. 23 McKendree University men's soccer team won their second game in as many days on Saturday in a 3-1 win over Taylor University.

The Bearcats, now 2-0 overall, will host Quincy University at Leemon Field on Wednesday, September 1 at 7 p.m.

McKendree took a 1-0 lead when junior midfielder Sam James (Southampton. England/Tauntons) (Southampton, England) took a pass from sophomore Joep Schreurs (Zoetermeer, Holland/) (Zoetermeer, Netherlands) and put it past the Trojan keeper in the 34th minute. Sophomore Aaron Streid (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) scored his first collegiate goal with a header in the 46th minute on a pass from sophomore midfielder Tom Ward (Frodhsam, England/) (Frodsham, England). Junior forward Max Stainmez (Holland, Ontario, Canada/Denison) (Holland, Ontario, Canada) scored the Bearcats' final goal of the contest, his second goal of the season, in the 58th minute on a pass from freshman forward Johny Tague (Livingston, Scotland/St. Margaret's) (Livingston, Scotland). Taylor's Joel Pincomb scored the lone goal for the Trojans late in the contest.

Sophomore goalkeeper Joe Sagar (Oldham, England/Hulme) (Oldham, England) improved to 2-0 on the season after playing all 90 minutes in goal and recording one save.
