WINNING WAYS CONTINUE AS VOLLEYBALL TEAM SWEEPS WILLIAMS BAPTIST

Tara Ryterski had eight kills as the Bearcats notched their fifth consecutive victory
(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 19)—A balanced offensive attack helped lift the McKendree University volleyball team to a three-set sweep Saturday at home against Williams Baptist College. The Bearcats rolled to the victory by scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-11.
 
Junior outside hitter Tara Ryterski (Nashville, Ill./Nashville) (Nashville, Ill./Nashville), junior middle hitter Ashley Perry (Sparta, Ill./Sparta) (Sparta, Ill./Sparta) and sophomore right-side hitter Kaitlyn Kollmann (Collinsville, IL/Metro East Lutheran) (Collinsville, Ill./Metro-East Lutheran) each posted a team-high eight kills in leading the Bearcats to their fifth consecutive victory. McKendree improves to 7-4 overall and remains perfect in American Midwest Conference play at 3-0.
 
The Bearcats will have their stiffest test of the 2009 season to date on Monday when No. 4-ranked Columbia College comes to the Melvin Price Convocation Center for a 7 p.m. match.
 
Junior setter Alyssa Speckhals (Hermann, Mo./Hermann) (Hermann, Mo./Hermann) led McKendree with 19 assists as sophomore setter Melissa Bayer (Collinsville, IL/Triad) (Collinsville, Ill./Triad) contributed 14 sets. Senior libero Lauren Sarver (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) notched 22 digs as senior defensive specialist Kristina Paisley (Waterloo, Ill./Gibault) (Waterloo, Ill./Gibault) added 16. Junior middle hitter Carrie Brickey (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) led all Bearcat players with five blocks, including three solos.
 
Williams Baptist falls to 7-4 overall and 0-2 in AMC play.
