(HANNIBAL, Mo.., Sept. 26) – The No. 11 McKendree University women's soccer team picked up their seventh shutout of the season in a 4-0 win at Hannibal-LaGrange College on Saturday afternoon.
No. 11 McKendree, now 8-1-1 overall (4-0 AMC), will travel to Parkville, Mo., on Wednesday for an American Midwest Conference game with No. 13 Park University at 3 p.m.
McKendree scored their first goal of the game in the 36th minute by junior midfielder Sarah Eckelkamp (Arnold, Mo./Fox) (Arnold, Mo./Fox) on an assist by junior midfielder Theresa Kaiser (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy). Kaiser would give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half with an unassisted goal in the 41st minute.
Senior defender Katelyn Cleveland (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) McKendree's third goal of the game in the 78th minute on an assist by junior midfielder Ashley Varns (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) and the Bearcats scored their final goal of the contest in the 87th minute when senior forward Sarah Ryan (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) scored on with a double assist from sophomore forward Sulyn Keomanivane (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) and freshman midfielder Carlee Luehmann (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) in the 87th minute.
Junior Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) tallied her fourth shutout of the season after playing all 90 minutes in goal. Yanko improved to 8-1-1 on the season with the win.
