(ST. LOUIS, Mo., Sept. 29)—The McKendree University volleyball team dropped its third consecutive match in American Midwest Conference play with a loss Tuesday at Missouri Baptist University. The host Spartans swept the best-of-five contest by scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 25-20.
McKendree slips to 7-7 overall and 3-3 in the AMC. The Bearcats will return to action Thursday with an AMC contest at home against Stephens College. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
At Missouri Baptist, junior middle hitter Carrie Brickey (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) led McKendree with 12 kills and six blocks. Junior outside hitter Tara Ryterski (Nashville, Ill./Nashville) (Nashville, Ill./Nashville) added five kills, while junior middle hitter Ashley Perry (Sparta, Ill./Sparta) (Sparta, Ill./Sparta) chipped in with five blocks, four of which were solos.
Sophomore setter Melissa Bayer (Collinsville, IL/Triad) (Collinsville, Ill./Triad) and junior setter Alyssa Speckhals (Hermann, Mo./Hermann) (Hermann, Mo./Hermann) shared team-high honors with 13 assists, and senior libero Lauren Sarver (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) collected 15 digs.
