No. 4 McKENDREE WRESTLING TEAM WINS TWO DUAL MATCHES FRIDAY, WILL COMPETE IN CUMBERLAND OPEN ON SATURDAY

(LEBANON, Tenn., Jan. 15)—The No. 4 McKendree University wrestling team picked up two dual wins on Friday afternoon, 23-18 over NCAA Division II Limestone College and 42-4 over Lindsey Wilson College, at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn.

McKendree, now 6-5 in dual competition, will compete on Saturday at the Cumberland University Open. Matches will begin at 10 a.m.

Sophomore Kyle Williams (Scott Air Force Base, Ill./Mascoutah) (Scott Air Force Base, Ill./Mascoutah) had a highlight win over Jeremy Parker, the No. 7 ranked wrestler in NCAA Division II, in an 8-4 decision against Limestone College. Also earning decision wins for the Bearcats were junior Wade Lowe (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) at 133 pounds, junior David Dwyer (South Beloit, Ill./Hononegah) (South Beloit, Ill./Hononegah) at 165 pounds and senior Aaron Winning (Highland, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Highland, Ill./Althoff Catholic) at 174 pounds. Junior's Tanner Wolk (Ste. Genevieve, Mo./Ste. Genevieve) (Ste. Genevieve, Mo./Ste. Genevieve) and Andrew Sanchez (Shiloh, Ill./O'Fallon) (Shiloh, Ill./O'Fallon) both picked up major decision wins at 174 and 184 pounds, respectively, and senior heavyweight Cedric Powell (Duncan, Okla./Duncan) (Duncan, Okla./Duncan) won by fall to give McKendree the win.

Against Lindsey Wilson College, the Bearcats only lost one match to cruise to the 42-4 win. Winning, Williams, and junior Wade Lowe (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) all pinned their opponents to earn their victories. Sanchez and sophomore John Burns (Decatur, Mo./Decatur) (Decatur, Mich./Decatur) both earned technical fall victories and Dwyer and Wolk had wins by major decisions. Powell and sophomore Matt Beasley (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) both had wins by decision in the lopsided win.
