(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 16) – The No. 14 McKendree University women's basketball team scored the first basket of the game on Saturday and never trailed in a 73-54 win over Missouri Baptist University.
McKendree, now 13-4 overall (3-1 AMC), hosts Stephens College on Tuesday, January 19, at 7 p.m.
Junior guard Ashley Agee (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) scored 18 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Bearcats in the win. Junior guard Katie Fullerton (Coulterville, Ill./Coulterville) (Coulterville, Ill./Marissa) was McKendree's only other player in double-digits with 17 points. The Bearcats had 10 players score at least two points in the contest.
McKendree led by as many as eleven three times in the first half of the contest and held the Spartans to only seven field goals in the first 20 minutes of play. The Bearcats continued to build their lead in the second half and led by 25 points with 11:20 left in the game on a layup by senior forward Jill Wolf (Okawville, Ill./Okawville) (Okawville, Ill./Okawville). The Bearcats never led by less than 17 points in the remainder of the game.
Ashley Johnson led all players with 19 points and Andrea Seabaugh had 12 points for the Spartans in the loss.
