HOCKEY TEAM ICES MISSOURI IN 15-1 ROMP

Mike Stier made 20 saves in the Bearcats' 14-goal victory
(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 25)—Ten different players scored at least one goal as the McKendree University hockey team rolled to a 15-1 victory Friday at home against the University of Missouri.
 
Senior center Charlie Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) and sophomore wing Nic Rolla (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) (O'Fallon, Ill./SIU-Edwardsville) each scored three goals and had two assists as the Bearcats posted season-highs in goals scored and margin of victory against the Tigers. McKendree improves to 10-7 overall and will return to action Friday with a game at Robert Morris College-Peoria. Face-off is set for 8 p.m.
 
Sophomore wing Jordan Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) and junior defenseman Kyle Clark (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) each added two goals in the contest, while sophomore wing J. David Coleman (Budapest, Hungary/Fort Zumwalt West) (Greenville, Ill./Fort Zumwalt West) handed out four assists versus Missouri. Senior wing Zach (Z.T.) Evans (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) contributed a goal and three assists, and junior wing Nick Smothers (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) also notched three assists in the victory.
 
Also scoring for McKendree were senior defenseman Chris Donahue (Levittown, Pa./Truman) (Levittown, Pa./Truman), freshman defenseman Derek Sallee (Highland, IL/Highland) (Highland, Ill./Highland), junior defenseman Alec Steiner (Swansea, Ill./Belleville East) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East), freshman wing Matt Seelbach (Brentwood, Mo./John Burroughs) and graduate defenseman Brooks Boeschen (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East).
 
Both Donze and Rolla scored a goal in each period in posting their respective hat tricks. As a team, McKendree was just as consistent, scoring five goals in every period. The Bearcats netted a trio of power-play goals along with two shorthanded tallies.
