(O'FALLON, Ill., Jan. 30) – The McKendree University women's tennis team opened its season on Friday with a 7-0 loss to NCAA Division I Saint Louis University. The match was played at the St. Clair Tennis Club in O'Fallon, Ill.
McKendree, now 0-1 overall, will face Missouri Baptist University on February 27 at Kings Point Sports Club in Belleville, Ill.
In singles action, the Bearcats lost their matches at No. 1-4 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and 7-5, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. McKendree also fell 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
In doubles play, the freshmen duo of Adriana and Guiliana Gonzalez (Lima, Peru/San Agustin) lost to Hailee and Mia Elmore, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, freshman Nathalia Bayma (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Bahiense) and sophomore Emily Cimmarolli (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) lost to Casey Miller and Kasia Tomalak, 8-0. In No. 3 doubles action, freshman Liz Otto (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) and junior Alison Holloway (Effingham, Ill./Effingham) (Effingham, Ill./Effingham) lost to Sarah Septien and Caitlin McKenna, 8-0.
