(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 29)—The McKendree University men's hockey team was limited to just one tally in a 5-1 loss Friday at home against Bradley University.
The loss gives McKendree an overall record of 5-3-1. The Bearcats will play host to Bradley Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the U.S. Ice Sports Complex in Fairview Heights.
Junior defenseman Derek Hartung (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) provided the only goal of the night for McKendree in the first period off a pass from graduate defenseman Brooks Boeschen (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East). From there, the visiting Braves took control. Bradley scored twice in the second period to take a 2-1 advantage, then netted three insurance goals in the third period to pull away for the victory.
Senior Mike Stier (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) took the loss in goal for the Bearcats. Stier registered 33 saves on the night, including 26 over the first two periods of play.
