(LEBANON, Ill., February 27)—The McKendree University men's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory Friday afternoon against the University of Illinois at Springfield in Belleville, Ill. The match was played at Kings Point Tennis Club, and was the Bearcats' home opener for 2010.
McKendree posted victories in all six singles matches and two of the three doubles contests on the way to the easy win. This was the third time in the last two seasons that the Bearcats have defeated the Prairie Stars in dual match play. McKendree won 7-2 on March 7, 2009 in Springfield before the Bearcats netted a 6-3 victory over UIS in the opening round of the Hack Kellner Invitational on April 10, also in Springfield.
McKendree will host Missouri Baptist University Saturday at 6 p.m. at Kings Point.
