No. 5 McKENDREE WRESTLING TEAM SHUTS OUT NCAA DIVISION II UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS 46-0

(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 3)—The No. 5 McKendree University wrestling team blew past NCAA Division II University of Indianapolis on Wednesday 46-0.

The Bearcats will travel to Marshall, Mo., on February 6 to compete at the Missouri Valley College Open at 9 a.m.

Senior Aaron Winning (Highland, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Highland, Ill./Althoff Catholic) started the dual off by pinning Nick Smith at the 2:53 mark of the first period to give McKendree a 6-0 lead. A 5-2 decision win by senior Josh Bryant (Tuttle, Okla./Tuttle) (Tuttle, Okla./Tuttle) over Shelby Mappes at 174 pounds gave the Bearcats a 9-0 lead and junior Tanner Wolk (Ste. Genevieve, Mo./Ste. Genevieve) (Ste. Genevieve, Mo./Ste. Genevieve) pinned Cody Wittkamp in 2:05 to build a 15-0 margin. Junior Andrew Sanchez (Shiloh, Ill./O'Fallon) (Shiloh, Ill./O'Fallon) earned a 12-4 major decision victory at 197 pounds over JT Jenkins and a forfeit win by senior Cedric Powell (Duncan, Okla./Duncan) (Duncan, Okla./Duncan) pushed the Bearcats out to a 25-0 lead.

At 125 pounds, junior AJ Ciccarelli (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) defeated Josh Allen in a 11-4 decision and junior Wade Lowe (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) won a 12-2 major decision over Casey Kenney at 133 pounds to extend McKendree's lead to 32-0. Sophomore Kyle Williams (Scott Air Force Base, Ill./Mascoutah) (Scott Air Force Base, Ill./Mascoutah) made the score 36-0 after earning an 8-0 major decision over Trey Weliver at 141 pounds, while junior Ryan Jahn (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) and freshman Isaiah Gonzalez (Montgomery, Ill./Montini Catholic) (Montgomery, Ill./Montini Catholic) both earned technical fall victories in the final two matches, 20-4 and 18-3, respectively, to post the 46-0 dual win.
