HOCKEY WIN STREAK HITS SIX AS BEARCATS CRUISE PAST WESTERN ILLINOIS, 8-1

(MOLINE, Ill., Feb. 5)—Six different players scored as the McKendree University hockey team registered an 8-1 victory Friday against Western Illinois University at the iWireless Center in Moline, Ill.

Senior center Charlie Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) and sophomore wing Nic Rolla (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) (O'Fallon, Ill./SIU-Edwardsville) each scored a pair of goals in leading the Bearcats to their sixth consecutive victory. McKendree improves to 13-7 on the year and will square off again with Western Illinois Saturday evening to wrap up the two-game series.

Junior defenseman Kyle Clark (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo), sophomore wing Jordan Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic), junior defenseman Alec Steiner (Swansea, Ill./Belleville East) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) and freshman defenseman Derek Sallee (Highland, IL/Highland) (Highland, Ill./Highland) also scored in the contest for McKendree. The Bearcats also received another solid effort in goal from senior Mike Stier (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West), who stopped 35 shots picking up his 11^th victory of the season.

Sallee and Steiner netted goals in the first period to help the Bearcats build a 2-0 lead. Charlie Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) then sandwiched both of his goals around Jordan Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic)'s tally in the second period in extending the McKendree advantage to 5-0. The Bearcats eventually took a 7-0 lead before host Western Illinois netted its lone goal miday through the third period.
