(LEBANON, Ill., March 10)—The McKendree University baseball team pushed its record to 8-4 on the season with an 11-0 road victory Tuesday night at Brescia University.
The Bearcats pounded out 11 hits and scored four runs apiece in the sixth and ninth innings to pull away for the win. McKendree and Brescia will meet again Wednesday afternoon in the back end of a two-game series.
Senior infielder Adam Davinroy (Shiloh, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Shiloh, Ill./Althoff Catholic) went 2-for-5 with a double, triple and two runs batted in to pace McKendree's 11-hit attack. Senior infielder Kory Peppenhorst (Carlyle, Ill./Carlyle) (Carlyle, Ill./Carlyle) also had a double and triple in the contest, while junior outfielder Tyler Muren (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Junior catcher Kyle Moll (Mascoutah, IL/Mascoutah) (Mascoutah, Ill./Mascoutah) belted a two-run home run for McKendree.
Sophomore right-hander James Schulte (St. Rose, Ill./Mater Dei) (St. Rose, Ill./Mater Dei) allowed just one hit over six innings to pick up the victory on the mound. Schulte walked two and did not strike out a batter.
