(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 15)—The McKendree University hockey team won for the seventh consecutive time, posting an 8-4 victory Saturday at home against Northwestern University. The contest was played at the U.S. Ice Sports Complex in Fairview Heights.
 
Freshman center Carlos Galvan (Mulvane, KS/Mulvane) (Mulvane, Kan.) and freshman center Dylan Mueth (New Baden, IL/Belleville East) (New Baden, Ill./Belleville East) each collected two goals and an assist to lead the way for the Bearcats, who are now 12-3-1 on the year. McKendree moved to 10-2 at home this season and will host Robert Morris University-Peoria in its next contest Friday at 7:30 p.m.
 
Most of the scoring in Saturday's game came in the first period, where the Bearcats grabbed a 5-3 lead. With the score tied at 3-3, Mueth netted his first goal of the game off a pass from freshman defenseman Andrew Olden (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) (Edwardsville, Ill.) with just over five minutes left in the period. Brandon Riley (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) followed 23 seconds later with an even-strength goal to push the Bearcats to a two-goal advantage.
 
The teams traded goals in the second period before Galvan and Mueth sealed the win with tallies in the third period.
 
Senior Mike Stier (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) collected 32 saves on 36 shots to earn the victory in goal for McKendree.
