(MIDLAND, Mich., Oct. 14)—The McKendree University hockey team held a 2-0 lead midway through the second period, but Calvin College rallied to post a 6-5 victory over the Bearcats Friday night at the Seth Schupan Memorial Classic in Midland, Mich.

McKendree slipped to 1-5-1 on the year and will wrap up its weekend of action at the Schupan Memorial Classic with a contest against Hope College Saturday at 2:15 p.m. ET.

Junior forward
Nic Rolla (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) registered a hat trick on the day for McKendree, including the first two goals of the contest. Rolla's power-play goal 11 minutes into action marked the only goal of the first period, and his even-strength tally with 8:28 remaining in the second period pushed the Bearcats out to a two-goal advantage.

However, Calvin stormed back with four unanswered goals to grab a 4-2 lead. Senior wing
Kyle Clark (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) cut the deficit to 4-3 midway through the third period, but Calvin scored twice more to put the contest out of reach. Junior defenseman
Matthew Seelbach (Brentwood, MO/John Burroughs) netted a goal with 2:06 to play, and Rolla finished off his hat trick with an unassisted goal just 20 seconds later. McKendree pulled goaltender
Dustin Schildknecht (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) for an extra attacker in the final minute, but could not come up with the game-tying goal.

Sophomore wing
Dylan Mueth (New Baden, IL/Belleville East) and senior center
J. David Coleman (Budapest, Hungary/Fort Zumwalt West) each had two assists in the contest for McKendree. Schildknecht had 39 saves in his first start of the year between the pipes for the Bearcats.
