Hockey Bearcats Edged by Bradley at Scottrade Center, 4-3

(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 16)—The McKendree University hockey team was defeated by Bradley University on Friday night in St. Louis, 4-3. The contest was held at the Scottrade Center, home of the National Hockey League's St. Louis Blues.

The Bearcats tried to rally from a 4-1 deficit midway through the second period, but were held in check by the Braves after pulling within one goal late in the period. McKendree slips to 3-6 on the year and will host Bradley Saturday night again at the Scottrade Center.

Bradley took a quick 1-0 lead just nine seconds into Friday's game. McKendree answered with the game-tying goal with 6:41 left in the period when junior defenseman Michael Lampe (Arnold, MO/Fox) scored with the assist credited to freshman wing Andrew Falls (Brentwood, TN/Brentwood). But the Braves regained a 2-1 advantage with just 86 seconds left in the period, then added two tallies in the early stages of the second period to build a 4-1 lead.

McKendree started its comeback bid midway through the second period when senior wing Derek Sallee (Highland, IL/Highland) scored to cut the deficit to 4-2. With 2:41 left in the period, Falls netted a power-play goal to help trim the margin to 4-3. Senior wing Nic Rolla (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) assisted on both second-period goals for McKendree, while Lampe assisted on Falls' tally.

The teams battled through a scoreless third period as Bradley was able to hold on for the victory. Senior Nathan Campo (Westmont, IL/Downers Grove South) was credited with 39 saves in taking the loss in goal for McKendree.
