(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 7)—The McKendree University hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a 5-3 victory Saturday afternoon at East Alton Ice Arena. The contest was the first of three home matches for the Bearcats in 2013-14.

Senior forward Nic Rolla (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) netted a pair of goals as four different players scored for McKendree. The Bearcats also received a solid effort in goal from freshman Tony Salamone (Jefferson City, MO/Jefferson City). He stopped 17 shots by the Cougars, including several key stops to help thwart an SIUE comeback bid.

McKendree will return to the ice Oct. 18 for the first of two road games against Bradley University.
