(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 8)—The McKendree University hockey team enjoyed its biggest offensive explosion of the season in rolling to a 15-0 win late Friday night at home against SIUE at the East Alton Ice Arena.
The Bearcats peppered the Cougar goalies for 79 shots in the contest, including 43 in the first period. McKendree moves to 6-8-1 on the year and will meet SIUE again on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in East Alton.
Senior forward
Dylan Mueth (Lebanon, IL/Wesclin ) pumped in five goals to pace the offensive surge for McKendree. Freshman forward had a goal and handed out six assists in the win, while freshman defenseman
Steve Csanyi (Belleville, Ontario, Canada/Nicholson) and freshman forward
Garrett Kellam (St. Joseph, MO/Central) each netted a pair of goals for the Bearcats. For Kellam, the tallies marked his first career goals for McKendree.
McKendree scored seven times in the first period, including the opening goal of the night by senior defenseman
Quinn Hellmann (Gillispie, IL/Gillespie) just 40 seconds into the match. The Bearcats tacked on four more goals in the second period and four in the third to close out the scoring on the night.
Freshman
Trevor Klostermann (Highland, IL/Highland) collected his first career shutout and had to make just nine saves to anchor the Bearcats' defensive effort.
