(LEBANON, Ill., September 22)—The McKendree University hockey team saw its record move back to the .500 mark following a 5-1 loss at home Saturday afternoon against Indiana University.
The visiting Hoosiers led just 2-1 after two periods of play, but exploded for three goals in the final 20 minutes to pull away for the victory and gain a weekend split against the Bearcats. McKendree, now 2-2 on the year, will be in Bloomington, Ill., for games this weekend against Illinois State University. The Bearcats and Redbirds will tangle Friday night at 9:10 p.m. before closing the weekend with a 5:50 p.m. match on Saturday. Both games will be held at the Pepsi Ice Center in Bloomington.
Freshman forward
Ryan Sizer (Belleville, Ontario, Canada/Moira Secondary School) netted the lone goal for McKendree. With the Bearcats trailing 2-0 in the middle stages of the second period, Sizer pumped in a power-play goal with assists coming from senior forward
Dylan Mueth (Lebanon, IL/Wesclin ) and junior forward
Jacob Schlote (House Springs, MO/Hillsboro).
Sophomore
Tony Salamone (Jefferson City, MO/Jefferson City) took the loss in goal for McKendree. Salamone stopped 18 shots in falling to 1-2 on the year.
