(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 21)- The No. 7 McKendree University wrestling team won three of its matches by fall on Wednesday, earning bonus points in seven of its eight wins, in a 44-9 win over University of Central Missouri.

The Bearcats improve to 10-4 overall and will host Truman State University on Friday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m., in their final home dual of the season.

McKendree earned forfeit wins at 125, 133, and 141 pounds to get out to a 18-0 lead before it even wrestled a match. Junior Trent Williams (Stillwater, Okla., Perry) made short work out of Ali Zantout at 149 pounds, pinning him in 24-seconds, to push the lead out to 24-0. The Mules cut the score to 24-3 with a decision win at 157 pounds, but senior Nick Haferkamp (Lincoln, Ill., Lincoln Community) pinned Zeb Spicer in 5:55 at 165 pounds to extend the lead out to 30-3. Following a pinfall loss at 174 pounds, senior John Vogt (Festus, Mo., Ste. Genevieve) pinned Michael Boyd in 2:18 at 184 pounds to take a 36-9 lead, and senior Julian Smith (Florissant, Mo., Hazelwood Central) followed with a 26-11 tech fall victory over Robert Schneider at 197 pounds to further push the score to 41-9. Senior heavyweight Ross Janney (Daleville, Ind., Yorktown) closed out the dual win with a 7-5 decision over Nick Lovejoy to close out the match 44-9.
