(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 10)—The McKendree University hockey team was defeated late Friday night on the road at Illinois State University, 6-2.
The Bearcats had a two-game win streak snapped with Friday's loss. McKendree moves to 5-3 on the year and will wrap up its weekend series against the IceBirds with a 5:40 p.m. faceoff on Saturday in Normal, Ill.
McKendree struck first in Friday's contest, scoring the only goal of the first period. Forward
Dylan Mueth (Lebanon, IL/Wesclin ) found the back of the net less than eight minutes into play, with assists going to sophomore forward
Billy Lamb (St. Louis, MO/St. Mary's) and sophomore forward
Jacob Young (Arnold, MO/Fox). Illinois State then reeled off five unanswered goals to build a 5-1 advantage midway through the third period.
Lamb tallied the final goal of the evening for McKendree, with assists credited to sophomore forward
Ryan Sizer (Belleville, Ontario, Canada/Moira Secondary School) and freshman forward
Sasha-Mitchell Perron (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada/Bellingham Blazers (NPHL)).
