(ST. LOUIS, Mo., Feb. 15)- The No. 8 McKendree University wrestling team closed out its dual schedule with a 2-1 record on Sunday at the the Maryville Duals. McKendree dropped a 21-16 match to No. 3 Notre Dame College, before picking up a 33-16 win over King University and a 22-19 win over No. 4 Ouachita Baptist University.

The Bearcats finished their dual schedule with a 15-5 record overall and will begin the postseason on Feb. 27 in Makato, Minn., at the NCAA Super Region III Tournament.

Seniors Nick Haferkamp (Lincoln, Ill., Lincoln Community) and Julian Smith (Florissant, Mo., Hazelwood Central) both posted 3-0 records on the day. Haferkamp, ranked No. 3 at 165 pounds, increased his winning streak to 11-straight matches, while Smith, ranked No. 2 at 197 pounds, has won 19-straght matches.

Freshman Darren Wynn (Champaign, Ill., Centennial), ranked No. 7 at 141 pounds, went 2-1 on the day and picked up a 10-2 major decision win over No. 3 Maurice Miller of Notre Dame, but alos lost a close 4-3 decision to No. 1 Josh Myers of Ouachita Baptist.

Senior John Vogt (Festus, Mo., Ste. Genevieve), ranked No. 6 at 184 pounds and the reigning D2Wrestle.com National Wrestler of the Week, picked up a 9-2 decision win over No. 1 Garrett Lineberger of Notre Dame.
