(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 22)—The McKendree University fencing teams were in action Jan. 17 at the Deciccio Duals/Club Duals held in Columbus, Ohio. The Bearcats competed against the University of Notre Dame in the one-day event.
In men's action, McKendree came up on the short end of the 20-7 final score. The Bearcats won the epee portion of the dual, taking a 6-3 decision in the discipline. Sophomore
Andrew Tolbert (Dolton, IL/Marian Catholic) won all three of his epee matches, including a pair of 5-4 triumphs. Freshman
Mathew Anderson (Roswell, GA/Roswell) added two victories while freshman Caleb Anderson brought home the other triumph in epee.

Brian Aronica (Glendale, WI/Nicolet) scored McKendree's other point against Notre Dame in the foil discipline. Aronica scored a 5-4 win against Matt Owens.
On the women's side, Notre Dame registered a 26-1 win against McKendree. Sophomore
Mary Hardig (Schererville, IN/Marian Catholic) claimed the Bearcats' lone win of the afternoon in sabre, taking a 5-2 win over Victoria Sluka.
