(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 4) – The McKendree University D2 men's hockey team will play three games this week. The first game is on Wednesday, October 5 against Lindenwood University at the Lindenwood Ice Arena in Wentzville, MO. On Friday and Saturday, the team will take on the University of Missouri in East Alton, IL at the East Alton Ice Arena. Friday's game will be played at 10:45 p.m., with Saturday's game played at 9:15 p.m.
McKendree began the season with two wins over Saint Louis University on September 23 & 24. The Bearcat's record currently sits at (2-0), with three games ahead of them this week. Senior forward and assistant captain
Ryan Sizer (Belleville, Ontario, Canada/Moira Secondary School) led the charge over the Billikens scoring four goals and registering two assists for six points. Senior defenseman and co-captain Steven Csanyi found the back of the net four times in the two game series, registering his first career hat trick and tacking on an assist totaling five points. Ty Watt (Barrie, Ontario, Canada) also had five points on the weekend, tallying one goal and four assists.
Wednesday, October 5 the Bearcats take on Lindenwood University Lions at 7 p.m. in Wentzville, Missouri at the Lindenwood Ice Arena. The Lions are currently (2-0) after beating Robert Morris University – Chicago's maroon team.
Friday and Saturday, October 7 & 8, the McKendree takes on the University of Missouri Tigers at home in East Alton, IL at the East Alton Ice Arena. Friday the teams will battle at 10:45 p.m., and again on Saturday at 9:15 p.m. The Tigers have played six games so far this season with a record of (4-2). Missouri split wins in its series with Illinois State University and Indiana University, and swept its series against Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville.
"We're excited about the challenge this week. Lindenwood has a great program and it's going to be a real test for us Wednesday," said head coach
Garry Henson. "Mizzou comes in this weekend after a big overtime win against SIUE, so they will have a lot of momentum. We'll need to make sure we are playing our best hockey over these four days."
