(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 10) – The McKendree University D2 men's hockey team is looking to add to its four game winning streak with two wins against the University of Illinois at the Illinois Ice Arena in Champaign, Ill. The teams play on Friday at 10 p.m. and on Saturday at 8 p.m.
The Bearcats overall record currently sits at 9-3 after sweeping Bradley University over the weekend. The Fighting Illini are 5-7-1 overall, coming off two losses to the University of Iowa.
After 12 games, senior forward
Ryan Sizer (Belleville, Ontario, Canada/Moira Secondary School) leads McKendree in points with 25. Sizer leads the team in both goals (10) and assists (15). Freshman forward
Levi Armstrong (Urbana, IL/Urbana HS) is second on the team in points with 22, scoring nine goals and adding 13 assists. Freshman forward
Dominic Naas (Neurensdorf, Zurich, Switzerland/KV Zurich Business School) isn't far behind, with six goals and 14 assists for 20 points. Sophomore forwards
Lazar Lestaric (Belgrade, Serbia/Sesta) and
Kristjan Toivola (Bellingham, WA/Bellingham Blazers (NPHL)) each have 18 points on the season. Lestaric has netted five goals and registered 13 assists. Toivola has found the back of the net nine times and also added nine helpers.
After earning two wins against Bradley, sophomore goaltender
Andrew Best (Midland, Ontario, Canada/Saint Theresa’s High School) now has a record of 6-3 to go along with a .901 save percentage and a 3.56 goals-against average.
