(LEBANON, Ill., Dec. 8) – The McKendree University D2 men's hockey team hits the road to Peoria, Ill. to face off against Robert Morris University – Peoria. The puck drops on Friday night at 6:45 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. at the Owens Center.
The Bearcats have won their last six games and have an overall record of 11-3 on the season, with a record of 2-0 against D3 teams. Robert Morris, a D3 team, is currently 6-7-1 with a 2-0 record against D2 teams. The Bearcats two wins at the D3 level came against Bradley University, who swept Robert Morris in their matchups. Robert Morris earned its D2 level wins against Augustana College.
Senior forward
Ryan Sizer (Belleville, Ontario, Canada/Moira Secondary School) leads the Bearcats in points with 32, as well as assists with 21. Sizer is also second on the team in goals with 11. Leading McKendree in goals is freshman forward
Levi Armstrong (Urbana, IL/Urbana HS) with 12, he also has 16 assists for 28 points. Sophomore forward
Lazar Lestaric (Belgrade, Serbia/Sesta) has found the back of the net nine times, and added 16 assists for 25 points on the season. Freshman forward
Dominic Naas (Neurensdorf, Zurich, Switzerland/KV Zurich Business School) has netted seven goals, including two game winners, and registered 16 assists for 23 points. Sophomore
Kristjan Toivola (Bellingham, WA/Bellingham Blazers (NPHL)) has both 11 goals and assists for 22 points on the year. Senior defenseman
Steve Csanyi (Belleville, Ontario, Canada/Nicholson) leads all McKendree defenseman in goals, assists, and points. Csanyi has registered six goals and 10 assists for 16 points.
Backstopping McKendree are goaltenders
Andrew Best (Midland, Ontario, Canada/Saint Theresa’s High School),
Jared Bradley (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South HS), and
Trevor Klostermann (Highland, IL/Highland HS). Best has seen time in 12 games, posting a 7-2 record with a 2.95 goals-against average and a 0.916 save percentage. Klostermann has played just one game for the D2 team posting a record of 1-0. Bradley has guarded the cage for the Bearcats in four outings with a record of 2-1, posting a save percentage of 0.859 and a goals-against average of 4.44.
