(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 26) – The McKendree University men's D2 hockey team is set to face off against the University of Iowa Hawkeyes at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex on Friday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 28 at 12 p.m.
 
The Bearcats will be looking to extend their current 10 game winning streak this weekend as they take on the Hawkeyes of the University of Iowa. The Bearcats are currently ranked 5^th in the Central Region of American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) D2 with a record of 15-3 overall, and 10-0 in Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA) play. The Hawkeyes, a fellow MACHA team, are ranked 16^th in the Central Region of ACHA D2 and have an overall record of 11-6-3, and 7-2-1 in the MACHA.
 
Senior forward Ryan Sizer (Belleville, Ontario, Canada/Picton Pirates EBJCHL) leads the Bearcats in scoring this season with 14 goals and 29 assists for 43 points. Freshman forward Levi Armstrong (Urbana, IL/Peoria Mustangs NA3HL) is tied with Sizer for the team lead in goals with 14, along with his 23 assists for 37 points. Freshman forward Dominic Naas (Neurensdorf, Zurich, Switzerland/Casper Coyotes WSHL) has 35 points on the season with 13 goals and 22 assists. Sophomore forward Lazar Lestaric (Belgrade, Serbia/National Sports Academy USHS) has potted 10 goals and registered 18 assists for a total of 28 points on the season. Sophomore forward Kristjan Toivola (Bellingham, WA/Bellingham Blazers NPHL) has netted 13 goals and added 13 assists for a season total of 26 points. Senior defenseman Steve Csanyi (Belleville, Ontario, Canada/Picton Pirates EBJCHL) has scored eight goals on the season and tallied 15 assists for 23 points.
 
Sophomore goaltender Andrew Best (Midland, Ontario, Canada/Cambridge Bears Junior A team) has appeared in 16 games for the Bearcats, posting a record of 11-2 with a goals against average of 2.44 and a save percentage of 0.925. Junior goaltender Trevor Klostermann (Highland, IL/Highland HS) has seen time in two games for the Bearcats posting a record of 1-0.
