(Lebanon, Ill., Jan. 27) – The McKendree University men's wrestling team moved to 10-5 overall as they defeated Drury University 36-6 this evening.
The Bearcats jumped out to an early 10-point lead winning the first three matches of the contest.
Marcus Povlick (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield North) began the dual with a 5-0 decision over Jake Byrd to put McKendree on the scoreboard.
NaQuan Hardy (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) followed with a 14-2 major decision to put the lead at 7-0.
Weston Basler (Imperial, Mo./Seckman) capped off the 10-point run with a 7-4 decision in the 141-pound match-up.
Ben Stahlman would put Drury on the board with his 8-3 decision over
Ruben Garcia (Selma, CA/Selma) to move the score to 10-3.
Isaiah Kemper (Evansville, Ind./Central) claimed a forfeit victory at 157-pounds.
Brock Wingbermuehle made his Bearcat debut with a tech 16-1 fall victory over Grant Taylor. At 174-pounds,
Austin Geerlings (Kentwood, MI/East Kentwood) collected the only pin fall of the night gluing Quintin Bisbey to the mat.
John Oss moved the dual to 27-6 with his 19-12 decision over
Qian'te Wagner (Alton, Ill./Alton).
Nick Foster (Belleville, IL) collected a forfeit victory at 197-pounds.
Christian Boyles (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs South) wrapped up the Bearcat win with a 4-2 sudden victory decision over Ben Melton.
The men's wrestling team is back in action on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. as they host Truman State University in the Statham Center.
