(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 1) – The McKendree University men's D2 hockey team heads to Wentzville, MO for a Wednesday contest against Lindenwood University at 7 p.m. at Lindenwood Ice Arena. McKendree then comes back home for a two game weekend series against the University of Illinois at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex. Friday the teams face off at 7:45 p.m., and Saturday the teams battle it out at 4:45 p.m.
The Bearcats and the Lions have gone head to head twice already this season, with both games played at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex. McKendree swept Lindenwood in the series, earning 5-3 and 2-0 victories. After Wednesday's game McKendree and Lindenwood will face-off one more time in the regular season, on January 17
th at Lindenwood. The Bearcats took on the University of Illinois' American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I team earlier this season, falling by scores of 4-2 and 6-1. McKendree will play host to the Fighting Illini's Division II team this weekend. The Bearcats are coming off a weekend series sweep of Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, in which they earned victories by scores of 10-3 and 11-1.
Sophomore forwards Tyler Wilson and
Dominic Naas (Neurensdorf, Zurich, Switzerland/Casper Coyotes WSHL) have led the Bearcats in scoring through 12 games this season, with both players notching 27 points. Wilson has potted seven goals and 20 assists so far this season, with Naas having lit the lamp for 12 goals and adding 15 assists for 27 points on the year. Splitting time between the pipes has been junior goaltender
Andrew Best (Midland, Ontario, Canada/Cambridge Bears Junior A team) and senior goaltender
Trevor Klostermann (Highland, IL/Highland HS). Best has posted a record of 6-3, registering one shutout and a save percentage of 0.921. Klostermann has a record of 3-0 on the season, with a goals-against average of 2.12 and a save percentage of 0.923.
