(St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 13) – The McKendree University men's wrestling team wrapped up the 2016-17 dual season with three wins at the Lombardi Duals hosted by Maryville University on Sunday afternoon.
The Bearcats improve to 18-5 overall and finished the dual season on a nine-match win streak.

McKendree kicked off the day with a 19-15 upset victory over No. 3 Notre Dame College.
Ryan Strope (Westphalia, Mo./Fatima) (157) and
Nick Foster (Belleville, IL) (174) provided key victories over nationally ranked opponents. Strope posted a 4-2 decision over fifth-ranked Juwan Edmond. Foster provided a 4-2 decision over eleventh-ranked Justan Rivera.
McKendree claimed bonus points in seven of the 10 matches against Truman State for a 42-6 victory. Truman State claimed a forfeit victory at 197-pounds to put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard.
Charles McNeal (Florissant, MO) (133) and
Qian'te Wagner (Alton, Ill./Alton) (184) provided pins to bolster the Bearcat score.
Nate Smalling (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) (149),
Tanner Anthony (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem) (157),
Brock Wingbermuehle (Imperial, Mo./Seckman High School ) (165), and
Coltyn Pease (Pittsfield, Ill./Pittsfield) (285) all posted tech fall victories.
The Bearcats concluded the day with a 30-15 win over Ouachita Baptist.
Isaiah Kemper (Evansville, Ind./Central) (149) claimed an injury default victory over third-ranked Blake Clevenger to move the score to 15-6. Strope followed with a third period pin fall victory over Johnathon Woods.
Weston Basler (Imperial, Mo./Seckman) (133) posted an 18-1 tech fall victory over Tyson Hume.
The men's wrestling team is back in action on Friday, March 24 as it travels to Moorehead, Minnesota for the NCAA Super Regionals.
