(Indianapolis, Ind., Feb. 4) – The McKendree University men's wrestling team improved to 14-5 overall as they defeated No. 18 University of Indianapolis 21-18 and Bellarmine University 54-0 this evening.
McKendree vs. Indianapolis Results
NaQuan Hardy (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) (133) put the Bearcats on the scoreboard with six points as he pinned Dillon Hurst at 1:58 in the first period.
Isaiah Kemper (Evansville, Ind./Central) (149) moved the team score to 9-6 as he posted a 6-4 decision over Neal Molloy.

Ryan Strope (Westphalia, Mo./Fatima) (157) pinned No. 8 Heath Lange of Indianapolis with seven seconds remaining in the match to earn six team points.
Brock Wingbermuehle (Imperial, Mo./Seckman High School ) (165) posted a 9-3 decision over JD Waters to move the score to 18-6.
Indianapolis took decisions at 174 and 184 pounds to cut the Bearcat lead to 18-12.
J.J. Filipek (Warrenton, Mo./Warrenton) (197) sealed the McKendreee victory with a last second take down to post a 6-4 decision over Brody Conner. This gave McKendree the 21-12 advantage.

McKendree dominated the dual as they won all 10 matches. The Bearcats took extra points in all but one match.
McKendree jumped out to an early 12-point lead as they took forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds.

Darren Wynn (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) (141) posted a 21-4 tech fall victory to move the score to 17-0.
Nate Smalling (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) (149) glued Tyler McCoy to the mat at 1:39 in the first period to move the score to 23-0.
Strope took a 2-0 decision victory over Andy Dobben.
Bellarmine forfeited at 165.

Austin Geerlings (Kentwood, MI/East Kentwood) (174) posted a 19-3 tech fall victory to increase the Bearcat lead to 37-0. Wagner followed with a 25-9 tech fall of his own.
Filipek and
Coltyn Pease (Pittsfield, Ill./Pittsfield) (285) both earned pin fall victories to finish the dual.
The men's wrestling team is back in action tomorrow morning as they hit the mats for the Greyhound Open hosted by the University of Indianapolis at 10:00 a.m. ET.
