(Lebanon, Ill., Jan. 30) – The No. 6 McKendree University men's wrestling team improved to 12-4 on the season as they swept the University of Central Missouri 47-0 in the final home dual of the 2017-18 campaign.
The Bearcats won all ten matches of the dual picking up bonus points in seven of the ten. NaQaun Hardy,
Ryan Vasbinder (Grand Rapids, MI/Grandville), and
Christian Boyles (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs South) all pinned their opponents in the dual, while
Marcus Povlick (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield North) earned a forfeit and
Qian'te Wagner (Alton, Ill./Alton) won by injury default to secure max points for McKendree.
Charles McNeal (Florissant, MO/Christian Brothers Catholic) and
Nick Foster (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) posted major decision victories with
Isaiah Kemper (Evansville, Ind./Central),
Ryan Strope (Westphalia, Mo./Fatima), and Luke Deiner each gain decision victories.
The men's wrestling team is back in action this Saturday as the team travels to Maryville University to wrestle Bellarmine University and the University of Indianapolis for a chance to be crowned Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Champions.
