(AMES, IA., Dec. 1) – The McKendree University men's D2 hockey team split the series against the Cyclones of Iowa State University on Saturday afternoon after ending their win streak in regulation on Friday afternoon.
The Bearcats fall to 14-4 overall, ending their nine game winning streak.
Iowa State scored the first goal of the game a minute before the buzzer in the opening period. The Cyclones carried that lead into the first intermission.
Junior
Dominic Naas (Neurensdorf, Zurich, Switzerland/Casper Coyotes WSHL) notched the game at one apiece minutes into the second period with an assist from senior
Lazar Lestaric (Belgrade, Serbia/National Sports Academy USHS). Iowa State added two more goals to go ahead 3-1 heading into the final period.
Iowa State added another goal in the third period to get up 4-1 seven minutes into the third period. Senior
Ty Watt (Barrie, Ontario, Canada/Rama Aces GMHL) cut the lead to two with the help from junior
Tyler Wilson (Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada) and sophomore
Cole Dezainde (Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada/Assumption College). Just seconds later, the Cyclones scored another goal to get back ahead by three.
McKendree ended up falling 5-2 to Iowa State University.
The Bearcats will return to the ice on December 6, as they host Lindenwood University at 8:00p.m.
