(LEBANON, Ill., April 17) – The McKendree University men's tennis team was defeated by #45 Lewis University 5-4 on Friday, but rebounded with a 6-3 victory over Bellarmine University on Saturday.
The Bearcats closed out the regular season with an overall record of 5-10 on the season, with a record of 2-3 in the East Division of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).
Senior Ben Muller went 3-1 in his matches over the weekend, including wins in both of his singles matches at the No. 2 position. Muller alongside senior doubles partner Maico Egbers defeated the pairing from Bellarmine, but fell to the #4 ranked doubles pairing from Lewis. Junior Ognjen Jevtic also went 3-1 over the weekend, winning his singles matches at the No. 4 position.
McKendree completed the regular season in fourth place in the East Division of the GLVC to earn a trip to the GLVC Championships on April 20-22 in Springfield, Mo. at the Cooper Tennis Complex. The Bearcats will go head-to-head against #20 Drury University, who finished in first place in the West Division of the GLVC. McKendree will take on Drury at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 20.
