(SOMERS, Wis., Jan. 13) – The McKendree University men's wrestling team participated in the Ranger Duals on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside this past Saturday, January 12, defeating the University of Findlay 27-12 and falling to nationally top-ranked Saint Cloud State 36-3 and Tiffin 27-12.
The Bearcat victory over Findlay included individual wins from
Charles McNeal (Florissant, MO/Christian Brothers Catholic) by a 4-2 decision,
Nate Smalling (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) by a 2-1 decision, Christopher Gillesse by injury (6:39),
Daniel Filipek (Warrenton, MO/Warrenton) by a 5-2 decision,
Ryan Vasbinder (Grand Rapids, MI/Grandville) by fall (4:19) and
Luke Diener (Saint Peters, Mo./Francis Howell Central) by forfeit. Filipek also took the lone McKendree win against Saint Cloud state by a 5-2 decision in the 184-pound class, while
Marcus Povlick (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield North),
Charles McNeal (Florissant, MO/Christian Brothers Catholic),
Nick Foster (Belleville, IL/Belleville West), and
Luke Diener (Saint Peters, Mo./Francis Howell Central) all took individual wins against Tiffin in an overall team loss.
Men's wrestling will be back in action on home turf this Wednesday, January 16 as they face off against Kentucky Wesleyan University.
